| Guild Charter |
| Vision |
Syk is a guild that is made up of real-life friends, friends that many of us have made in various on-line games, and new friends that we are adding to our ranks as we grow our guild. We have alliances and other arrangements with guilds that have common goals in order to allow our members to develop their characters and to explore end game content that they may not normally see as a member of a non-power game guild. Our goal is to build ourselves up to the point where we can run regularly scheduled raids of the 25 man instances. This goal will be met by either by gaining new members in Syk, or by forging carefully considered alliances with other guilds that have similar interests, or a combination of both of these methods. We intend to meet this objective in a way that allows members to continue to play in a style that they choose to play the game (e.g. PvP, develop alternate characters, etc).
|
| Characters |
Syk does allow alternative characters; however they are only allowed if your main character is in the guild.
If you have alternate characters, and you are planning to raid with us in the higher end dungeons, you need to progress your raiding character(s) to the point where the character is properly equipped to participate in the end game instances. In short, don't expect to go to Karazhab+ if you haven't done the work to get the requisite equipment. If you have questions about this requirement, contact your class officer or visit the guild forums.
|
| Rules and Regulations |
It is required that any and all guild members conduct themselves with honor and respect for others at ALL times (see Conduct). We don't intend to come up with a formal set of rules to try to cover every possible situation; however a few basic rules are outlined below. It is expected that you will follow the rules outlined in the charter as well as those posted on the guild site.
You are required to conduct yourself with the rules as they are established by Blizzard. This would include the use of known "exploits", not following naming conventions, and adherence acceptable behavior standards.
The use of raid chat and Teamspeak/Ventrillo during raids should not be used for idle chatting. Not only is it annoying to others, but it has the tendency to slow down progress for everyone in the raid because of the distractions.
Never joke about taking loot. When you are asked if you want to take an item, a proper acknowledgement to the inquiry is required. This is usually in the form of a "yes" or "no" answer to ensure that there is no misunderstanding of your intent.
When in small groups (guild, alliance group, or PUG) where you are not master-looting, follow the loot rules that the group establishes at the start of the run.
If you are proven to have improperly taken an item that did not legitimately belong to you, guild leadership will take appropriate action against the offender.
|
| Guild Leadership |
The guild is directed by the Officers with the input and consultation of the membership. The Officers vote on policies for the guild, handle disciplinary issues, handle loot decisions, approve/deny applicants via vote, review probationary members, handle banking procedures and many other smaller tasks.
Moving up in the ranks comes from being active and your performance in support of the guild.
Moving up in the ranks requires dedication to playing your character, making contributions to the guild, participating in guild activities, and from the trust you earn from the guild.
|
| Raiding |
We are currently running raids of Karazhan. Our plan is to be able to take more of our members to end game dungeons through the development of our own membership and working with our allied friends. In order to meet this objective, a level of participation is expected from our members. However, raid participation is not mandatory. We want our members to participate because they want to, not because they have to. It is your responsibility to acquaint yourself with Syk's raiding rules and regulations which are being developed in our guild forums.
Once we begin to raid as a guild an instance with a "save" on our own, members are prohibited from raiding that particular with other guilds. Exceptions to this rule must be approved by guild leadership. You are not obligated to follow this rule if we are not running this instance during the "save" period. Refer to the World of Warcraft website for the instance reset calendars.
|
| Loot |
Syk uses the Suicide Kings system for determining the fair distribution of loot. It is your responsibility to acquaint yourself with our SK system. Information is/will be posted on our guild forums.
Instances, groups, and raids that are not using Suicide Kings follow a NEED before GREED basis. Use common sense and respect. If a member of the group (guild member or not) will benefit from an item significantly, and you only slightly, then pass on that item.
|
| Syk's Requirements for Raiding Members |
The current Voice over IP application is required to be used for all members who raid. Today this application is Teamspeak, however we may move to Ventrillo at some point in the future.
You are not required to have a microphone, but you are required to be able to hear the raid leaders.
CT_RaidAssist is required for all members who raid. Other UI mods, may be required for your class. See your class officer, or the guild forums, for more information.
|
| Application Process |
First, all players interested in joining Syk must fill out an application. After you have filled out the application, an Officer of Syk will contact you most likely via in-game mail. Upon receiving your in-game mail it is your responsibility to act as instructed in the message. You will be given instructions on how to contact us. Once you have gained contact with Syk, we will do our best to involve you in groups and raids. We do not currently set a specific number of raids/groups that an applicant must attend before their application is formally reviewed for approval or rejection. We do try to have applicants join us for a few runs or other events however to see how well the "fit" is for both interested parties.
It is expected that when you make a formal application to our guild, that you are "unguilded" at that time. We don't poach membership from other guilds.
Applicants, who have not acted upon a format communication from a guild officer, will have their application voided after two weeks of non communication.
If you are accepted, you will be brought in as an "Initiate". This is a probationary state of membership with no fixed duration attached to it. When guild leadership is comfortable with having you as a member, we will elevate your status to an appropriate full member rank.
|
| Applying to other guilds |
If at anytime you, as a member of Syk, decide to look for another guild or apply to other guild, it is that members responsibility to remove all of his/hers characters from Syk. If a member does apply to another guild and has not removed his/her characters they will be removed by guild leadership.
If you do decide to leave our guild, we wish you well in your future endeavors. If you decide that you would like to come back at a later date, you must reapply, but you will not be barred from returning just because you had voluntarily left our guild. Our guildmates are our friends.
|
| Inactive Member |
Syk defines an "inactive member" as someone who does not participate in World of Warcraft over a pre-determined length of time. Currently, members who do not participate in a 60 day time period are considered inactive.
Syk leadership reserves the right to review our roster as needed and remove those characters that have been inactive for more than 30 days. There are, of course, provisions made for absences due to real life obligations or emergencies.
Members who are returning from an extended absence and find themselves unguilded will have the opportunity to rejoin Syk if they left in good standing.
Not raiding does not mean "inactive". Syk is and continues to be a non-mandatory raiding guild. Individuals participate in raids because they want to, not because they are obligated to.
