Yes, I know I play Beast Mastery. But you can't say I haven't warned the rest of you of this -- BM doesn't just lag behind other specs in DPS, it lags behind a lot. I've said it before and here is just... well, I guess it's not more proof so much as well-documented information.
But yeah, BM lags behind MM and SV by a good 20-30%. That much. Yup. THAT much. *sigh* And no, there isn't a catch. Those of us who play BM are choosing to do significantly less DPS than we could do as another spec. We suck. But we do it in style.
I still play it, and trust me, I'm stubborn as, well, heck.
Check it out if you're interested. Oh, and check out this guy's other articles too -- he's got a new one up for hunter's in the Blood Wing of ICC that is well worth a read.
Can Beast Master's Raid?
Xeno, please don't take his advice and kick me We need my FI buff still!
(Also, I edited the Hunter's Guide that is Stickied in this sub-forum, you should all check it out, as well as the blog that hosts this article, and maybe the other site I linked in that edited post... It's all good writing that I should have been keeping up with better!) _________________

Just as a reality check, when the BM hunter is the only source of FI (the other possibility being Sanctified Retribution), you can add ~2.5k to their DPS when you consider their net raid contribution.
If you figure 15 other DPSers doing an average of 5000, plus 3 tanks doing an average of 2800, that's 83400 Raid DPS not counting the BM hunter. 3% of that adds 2502 DPS. If the hunter in question was doing, say, 6000 DPS, then that adds ~41% of their DPS to their credit that would be lost if they switched to MM or SV. _________________ Sounder, 80 Druid, Eng/JC, Quartermaster of Syk! |

Arcane Empowerment also gives the 3% that FI does.
Besides, Mary, I'm sure that's the way it is in super hardcore ridiculous raids, but in our raids you consistently kick ass. Not to say that they don't need to help BM a little out but still! _________________ Duskflower - Raid Officer, Chaotic Onslaught

Aye, but FI is about to get a slight buff I think. It's going to just have constant uptime -- not reliant on pet hits, or crits, or anything anymore.
But damn, I didn't know mages could provide that. I thought it was just Rets and BMs still. _________________

Arcane Empowerment is getting the same treatment. So... still equal, sorry, Mary. XD _________________ Duskflower - Raid Officer, Chaotic Onslaught
